Cheapest Photojournalist Camera I'm A Photography Student, What Type Of DSLR Should I Get For My Major?

I'm a photography student, what type of DSLR should I get for my major? - cheapest photojournalist camera

I am new to the field of photography, just the school for that. I have my decision if I want a regular photographer Photography (marriage or similar) or a professional photographer for a newspaper photographer or something.
My semester starts soon and I'm happy for a digital SLR camera that can do the work, but also cheap, because I am an owner. I was recommended by my friends to get a Nikon D80 and I think just like her, but no other camera, with what can perhaps be compared even cheaper? I intend to spend over $ 1000, a total of the camera and accessories, as I strapped for funds because of the economy. So, get someone friendly digital SLR camera Nikon D80, which can be compared?
Oh, aND please do not simply say the name of the product, but you tell me if you do not experience with the camera as you propose.

Thank you very much.
